Naturist Resort Mexico – Playa Sonrisa

Mexican Nudist Resort Playa Sonrisa:
Naturist Resort Mexico- For those that loathe winter and sincerely miss being naked outside in the sun, Mexico is certainly a destination to contemplate in late December (and practically any month of the year).
Lovely beaches on the ocean, gulf, and sea with warm tropical weather throughout the year, and there you have one choice for escaping a winter ugly-land.
After some desperate seeking for an affordable last-minute deal at a naturist resort abroad (not too simple to find this year), we finally found Playa Sonrisa, a clothing optional resort on the Caribbean Sea coast of Mexico.
Getting to Playa Sonrisa is about a 4 to 5 hour drive from Cancun. Yet, don’t let the added travel time discourage you because I can ensure that it’s well worth the excursion.
Playa Sonrisa is small and secluded. If you are searching for a peaceful nudist resort in Mexico, this the ideal place to get away from it all!
With six beachfront guest rooms on the property, you always have the option to locate silent and never feel overcrowded. We stayed in a “Beachfront Bungalow,” a bed and bath in our own private hut, situated on the sand and close enough to the water for a constant sea breeze.
We had the opportunity to tour their “Villa Sonrisa” next door made up of small flats fully furnished with a kitchen and living room and allowed for returning guests only. The Villa also has a patio and bar on the rooftop with an excellent view. These flats are hot, so I wouldn’t hesitate to return.

A number of steps far from our door, the sea could easily occupy a complete day with skinnydipping, snorkeling, kayaking, fishing, or simply curling up with a novel while sunbathing naked on the plage. Simply beyond their pier are mini coral reefs to find with angel fish, lobsters, and a slew of other sorts of little tropical sea creatures.
With the use of your rental car, it is an instant trip to the dive shop in the nearby fishing village of Xcalak for scuba divers who want to explore the coral reefs off the coast. These reefs, shielded within a marine reserve, are notably healthy and vibrant.
I took their opening class as a first-time diver, and had a dreamlike new experience in my first 40-foot dive. Another day-trip option will be to visit the Mayan ruins in Chacchoben (a 1.5 hour drive from the resort), an unforgettable and spectacular site of ancient Mayan temples.
Mealtimes at the resort were scheduled for 2-3 hour increments in the morning, afternoon and nighttime, and the food was excellent. Continental breakfast was included with the room, while lunch and dinner were at an additional, but quite fair cost.
Highlights were the delicious home made muffins and bread, Mexican lunch cuisine like quesadillas, and the creative, nude model beach served at dinner. Food was served in their enchanting pub and restaurant with tables inside and outside on beach ass . The bar is open all day and works on the “honor system,” so guests can help themselves to drinks between mealtimes and only keep a tablature.
Overall, Playa Sonrisa had more of a bed-and-breakfast vibe than a resort, but this really is not a terrible thing. Over the course of our stay we had the joy of getting to know the owners, Donn and Cindy Murphy who are such warm, down-to-earth individuals and make you feel right at home.
Plus, among its best attributes is how affordable it is. To my pleasant surprise, the guests staying there with us turned out to be other young couples, who would probably find these rates more attractive than at other nudist resorts in Mexico like like Hidden Beach.
What it comes down to is that if you’re looking for a glitzy resort with five nude swimming pools, this isn’t it. If you should be looking to completely kick back, relish the simple joys of sand and sea with no clothing or worries, Playa Sonrisa might be the perfect choice.
