Mohonk Preserve Nude Trail and Naked Sunbathing At Split Rock

Getting Some Naked Sun At Split Rock And the Mohonk Preserve
While we still have some beautiful autumn days left, I needed to share a clothes-optional place to go where you can also get your outside / autumn leaf repair! It is found in the Mohonk Preserve in the town of New Paltz in upstate New York. It’s about an hour and half drive from NYC.
Mohonk Preserve – We went there on a bright day in August. There are numerous hiking and mountain biking trails all over this mountainous rural area, never to mention http://nudismfree.com climbing and various other outdoor activities you are able to do there.
The area we went to is a clothing-optional section on the Coxing Trail. The closest parking lot is at the Coxing Trail Head. This lot fills up fast. It was full upon our day arrival so instead we parked at the West Trapps trail head. This was a longer manners away (approx 30 minutes), but a fine hike anyhow! It’s a relatively easy hike, but sneakers are recommended. The trail runs along a stream called Coxing Kill, and first you pass through the clothing-mandatory component, along with a popular spot called Split Rock. Afterward a ways down you reach that sign posted on the tree.

And you’ll be able to remove all clothes and be as freely naked as the wildlife![There’s so sadly no established name for this place. Many refer to it as Split Rock, even though that’s the name of the textile section. More with this later.] A little further down we found the place where people (mostly guys on this day) hang out on the flat rock relaxing outside in chairs or on towels. http://voy-zone.com ‘s in the centre of the woods so there is a blend of shade and sunlight. The stream of water goes steadily around the rock, creating pools and small waterfalls. So pretty and relaxing!
However the water was ice cold, so swimming is best reserved for hot summer days. The area is thick with trees and loads of natural vegetation for the senses to feast on. Check out these orange mushrooms I seen and a butterfly in movement!

Soon after our visit, I wrote to the Mohonk Preserve to ask why there is no advice on their website concerning this clothing-optional area. Their response:
“Within an effort to adapt a varied population of visitors, the clothes-optional area on the Coxing Kill stream is a longstanding tradition at the Mohonk Preserve. Just a tiny fraction of our visitors take advantage of this region.
Over the years we have had to handle a certain number of battle between a large proportion of our visitors and the group utilizing the clothes-optional area. Many of our members and visitors do not believe that that is an appropriate use of our landscape since it has the prospect of bringing families with children into contact with people in the clothes-optional area.
Families have expressed to us their discomfort with this exposure (pun intended) and feel that this region of the Preserve becomes, de facto, off-limits to them. Because we attempt to balance opportunities for all to appreciate our properties, we do not publicize the clothing-optional area on the Coxing Stream.”

Sounds like they ran into a little controversy plus some furious parents. The typical “What about the kids!” crap. Thanks, MP, for determining a designated clothing-optional area is suitable.
Now to educate individuals how simple nudity really does not harm kids. You’ll think that with an area set aside, both groups would be able to peacefully coexist. The Preserve is huge enough! I also do not believe these families recognize how very few areas there are to legitimately skinny dip outside in NY state.

Anyway, we haven’t been back since August, but I Will bet it is young there this time of year! Anyone up for a clothes-optional hike this autumn?
